DYJA Audio Recordings

For educational re-appraisal purposes, the recording of our ensembles has always been considered important.

There is no substitute for real and proper listening to the works of past and present jazz exponents. In the Jazz world, this learning strategy is by far the most beneficial for young instrumentalists.

Likewise, it is important to listen to ones own performances, both collectively and individually. Play-backs are often enlightening and motivating. Also, performing in a recording studio environment is very different to a regular concert performance. Playing to the 'red light' is a special discipline where pace and stamina becomes as important as musical talent. This is so important, particularly in the creative area of improvised solo choruses and playing to order. Presenting ones best solo at the right time is an art in itself.
