The Doncaster Jazz Orchestra (DJO) is periodically reformed for special events such as major jazz festivals, local celebrations, foreign tours and recording projects.

"This 'invitation ensemble' brings together those of our alumni membership who have continued to support DYJA and who have managed to maintain a high level of music performance in whatever situations they have found themselves. Many are in higher education or employment. Some are full or part-time professional musicians or teachers, working in this region or beyond. There is something very special about these occasional reunions, both musically and socially. The mutual realisation and acknowledgement of those who have progressed as individual performers is a pleasure to witness. This feeling is then only eclipsed by the emerging collective sound of the full ensemble as they approach challenging orchestrations with focused determination, and a sprinkling of good humour.
The results are often awe inspiring."
