DYJO is the advanced level of the ensembles and specialises in re-creating the “Music of the Masters” (Ellington, Basie, Herman, Rich etc) and the challenging arrangements of contemporary international and UK composers.
This band develops a variety of styles and the programme includes swing, blues, ballads, latin, rock, fusion, straight ahead jazz and vocal standards.
Over the years, national recognition has resulted in invitations to perform at many prestigious events throughout the UK and Europe.
In addition to jazz club and concert performances locally, our musicians have enthralled audiences at London’s Royal Festival Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Barbican Centre.
The various DYJO line-ups of particular years have performed at Prom concerts on a record 14 occasions at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
From October 2015 DYJA was excited to announce Dennis Rollins becoming Associate Director of Band Studies at DYJA with special responsibility for DYJO.
If you are planning to enter at this level an audition may be required.
Rehearsal: Thursdays from 7pm to 9:30pm
