Join us for this second jazz harmony workshop led by Mark Ellis. Although this session builds upon the first jazz improv session it is open to anyone and everyone interested in developing their improvisation techniques. Designed to last from 12pm till 5pm this workshop will explore and work closely with all participants to improve their improv skills.
Ever wondered what those strange looking symbols were at the top of the stave when playing a written solo? Do you want to progress past The Blues and become an accomplished improviser? Then this workshop is EXACTLY what you need next. Mark Ellis breaks down Jazz Harmony into simple, easy-to-understand ideas. This in-depth workshop works step by step through the 4 basic triads and then moves on to 7th chords. At the end of the session you WILL understand how to play over the 5 most common chord types in all keys but more importantly you will have taken the next big step towards understanding harmony. It’s really not that difficult once you are shown HOW to do it!
Costs for this workshop are £25 and tickets can be purchased via the website. When booking please detail your grade level and instrument.
More detailed information about the workshop will follow!
